Change ip an name scalix server

Postby Nexis » Fri Jun 02, 2006 4:05 pm

Is it possible or is there a procedure to change the name and ip from a scalix server?

Changing the IP is easy - Scalix only uses the FQDN, so if your /etc/hosts is correct and both forward and reverse DNS agree you're good to go.

If you need to change the FQDN of the Scalix server you can use

Code: Select all

sxmodfqdn -o <old-name> -n <new-name>
using the FQDN in both cases. You will also have to change /opt/scalix/global/config and uninstall and re-install SAC, RES and SWA (or re-configure them in /etc/opt/scalix).

To be on the safe side I'll also recommend a reboot if you change the hostname.

How do I do this part?
uninstall and re-install SAC, RES and SWA (or re-configure them in /etc/opt/scalix.

Will reinstalling change any settings?

Re-installing will change your settings back to the installation defaults, yes. You have two options.

Firstly, you can run the installer and do an uninstall (only SAC, RES and SWA, not the server), then do a re-installation using the installer.

Or you can edit the following files, and restart scalix-tomcat:
/etc/opt/scalix/webmail/swa.properties
/etc/opt/scalix/caa/scalix.res/config/ubermanager.properties
/etc/opt/scalix/res/config/res.properties

Hopefully I didn't miss any ...
