Scalix without setting up email?

I am the tech coordinator for a school district. We have email provided to us by the educational coop, but would like to setup a central calendar server and local messaging system. Is it possible to setup a Scalix server without actually hosting a email?

This may be a stupid question, but I am new to the Scalix scene so I appreciate any answers.

Without Email

You could set it up and do it this way...and use it for the calendar function by itself.

Do you have your own domain because you might be able to convince them to change.

I'm not sure if you can get rid of the mail functionality. If all you want is calendars, there are other options for a group calendar system only.

I've used this and it's quite complete...just calendar though...no email
