FC4 Install hangs at: INFO Creating Scalix instance...

Postby dr_c » Wed Apr 19, 2006 10:03 am

Hi,

While the installer-log does warn me that "this might take several minutes," I am coming up on an hour that this step has lasted.

The computer isn't hung. Just the installer, and if I do a 'top," I can see that python is still running, burning a 3% CPU.

Any thoughts on what could cause this? I had passed the 'create admin user step' when this occurred.

What is the best way to gracefully exit and retry? This is a Fedora Core 4 system.

Thanks,

Dr C.

Resolved: FC4 Install hangs at: INFO Creating Scalix inst.

I did two things at once -- and one of these allowed the installer to complete, so I now appear to have a fat and happy Scalix v10 CE installation. Oh, and it is sweet!

1) I ran the installer on the console X-server, instead of across an ssh/forwarded connection.

2) I was confused that I had two compat-libstdc++ libraries on my system -- so I uninstalled compat-libstdc++-296. The installer complained, so I re-installed it.

Not sure which change made my system happy -- but I'm happy now :-)
