[SOLVED] Tomcat reserved memory change in 11.4.6?

Postby elliot01 » Tue Dec 29, 2009 7:06 pm

Hi all.

I Just upgraded our trusty CentOS 5.3 server from Scalix 11.4.5 to 11.4.6.

As far as I remember, up until now I have had the Tomcat reserved memory setting at 256 (must have been recommended when I first installed Scalix). 11.4.6's installer says that the recommended values are 506 to 2025. If I choose '256' again, it warns me that it's below the minimum. I decided to up it to 512, but I am wondering whether this was wise!

My server has 4GB RAM, with 329 email accounts (5 premium). Around one to ten webmail users concurrently.

Thanks for any feedback :D

This is the result of enhancement Bug 20437.
With former releases it wasnt possible to reserve more than 1 GB of memory for Tomcat. 256 MB seems too low for any usecase.
On a system with 4 GB RAM I would reserve at least 1 GB for Java/Tomcat. The server core doesnt need much memory.
