Shared inbox not available on 2nd server

Postby HamishMcMurray » Sat Oct 10, 2009 9:47 am

I have set up Scalix on 2 servers. I can see both servers in the management console, users can email each other across the servers and all users show up in the centralised contacts list/adddress book.

The problem is that when I share an inbox or calendar only users on the same server can view them. Users on the other server can't.

Can anyone shed some light on what I need to set up in order to allow sharing across my servers?

You need to make sure your hostnames are correct. Check with omshowmnmp. Both the forward and reverse entries must be present.

Does cross-server delegation work for you?

Are you using Outlook or SWA as a client?

Running omshowmnmp gives the following:

Server1 (called scalix01):

Code: Select all

# omshowmnmp
scalix01     scalix01.domain.com
scalix02     scalix02.domain.com

Server2 (called scalix02):

Code: Select all

# omshowmnmp
scalix02     scalix02.domain.com
scalix01     scalix01.domain.com

How do I cehck for cross-server delegation?

I have tested viewing shared inbox and calendar with the SWA, Outlook and Thunderbird. Only users on the same server can view each others shares.

so this is a proper scalix multi-server setup, i.e.
- enterprise edition license
- smintfc routes and dirsync configured?

in the outlook case, can the machines running the outlook clients properly resolve both the hostnames to an IP address?

in the swa case, have the servers been configured with a kerberos based inter-server trust relationship?

Cheers,

Hi

I'm running on a 30 day trial license which I believe allows proper multi-server setup.

I've added smintfc routes and dirsync as per the instructions on this page: http://www.scalix.com/wiki/index.php?title=HowTos/AddingAScalixServer

But that is all I've done. I haven't set up anything else.

I've set up the Outlook clients (and Thunderbird) with both the server IP address and then again with the FQDN of the server. No luck.

If I need to set up Keberos do I follow pages 107 to 109 of the "scalix_setup_and_configuration_guide_113.pdf" document or is there a better guide? I have spoken to one of your resellers in the UK a few days ago but they told me that it wasn't anything to do with Keberos (as I asked that specific question) and they told me that it 'should all just work out of the box'.

Thanks.

SWA needs kerberos, i believe there is a more detailed kerberos doc on the scalix wiki.

eval version would work for multi-server.

i think this needs debugging on the system, at least for the outlook side of things; please contact your sales rep as specified in that eval email.

I'm getting closer. I've now setup Kerberos with some help from the UK support company.

Users on my Server2 can view shared inbox and calendar of users on my Server1 using SWA and Thunderbird. However users on Server1 cannot see shares from users on Server2. Hopefully I'll get it fully working next week.
