Tips needed for message rescuing

Hi folks,

the CentOS underneath my scalix server doesn't really work correctly anymore.

Because of that I'd like to rescue my message storage and backup the messages via IMAP to a temporal storage before setting up a new scalix server.

What files do I need to regain access to my messages and what must be done to implement this. I don't need a working mail server just a possibility to gain access to my messages via IMAP (the system doesn't even need to present the messages in different user accounts to me.

TIA
Kelsey

Why IMAP? You can make a full .tar.gz or similar archive and restore the mailstore again afterwards. IMAP will most likely cause you to lose some information.

Because I need access to my mails! Also I made quite good experience with moving mails via IMAP from one server to another.

The problem is that IMAP doesn't maintain things like calendars and contacts, the protocol was not designed for it. The best solution would be to make the temporary server a Scalix server, transfer the mail, fix the old server, then transfer it back. You can even use a VM for short-term use.
