inbound fetched mail going right back out ....

Postby slk2k » Mon Mar 02, 2009 10:52 pm

Hi everyone,

Let me see if I can explain.

I am trying out scalix for a friend (small shop - 5 mailboxes total). Currently,
they have all users pull email from their domain via pop3 and send back
through their ISP (web hosting has no SMTP services.).
Works OK, but they would like to take advantage of shared calendars.

So, I have set up scalix and used fetchmail to pull email from their domain
(domain.com) and that worked pretty well. The one thing they get hit by
a lot is viruses. Can't get them from clicking on things they shouldn't.
They all have spyware, antivirus and the like, but sometimes their
isn't any stopping them

I went digging around about using spamassasin and clamav (in addition to
what they use on their system) and tried using the Complete Postfix HowTo.

Now my trouble. Fetchmail hands off to postfix, but then after parsing
the email, it looks like postfix is sending it right back out instead of giving it
to scalix locally!

I wonder if it has anything to do with what I called my scalix server
(scalix.mydomain.com). It is very close to the real domain (mydomain.com).

Here is the log from /var/log/mail.log (with names changes to protect
the stupid (namely me)):

Well I don't know much about postfix, but I know with sendmail that you have to have your local machine defined or aliased as mydomain.com for it to deliver that mail locally.

Sorry for the late reply - got tied up in something else altogether not pretty, but that's a different story :-)

I believe I do have things defined correctly. In /etc/hots, I have the following
entries:

Code: Select all

> cat /etc/hosts
# /etc/hosts

127.0.0.1       localhost.localdomain localhost
192.168.2.91    scalix.mydomain.com scalix

Is the something else I need to check?
