Hi All,

Installed FC4 and get the above error message when I try an installation of Scalix. I'm just at the "getting started" section of the install.

Any ideas?

Hi,

two things: Please install the latest version (Community) and make sure you are on a 32bit platform.

Thanks,

Sascha.

Installed Scalix community edition as far as system check. It's getting further than Enterprise edition. What now? I really need to test Enterprise edition for a client.

What specific functionality are you looking for in Enterprise edition ?

Community Edition allows you to create 25 Enterprise users so you'll be able to use the Outlook client with those users.

Cheers

Hi Kev,

Installed Scalix community edition as far as system check.

??? What does the log say it is failing on? Either hit the view log button or look in the scalix-installer log in /var/log.

Thanks,
Don

Detailed output for the Scalix Installer

Postby ScalixSupport » Sun Feb 05, 2006 4:37 pm

Kev,

Try this command line when launching the Scalix-Installer.

./scalix-installer-commmunity --debug

note: that is two dashes before debug.

it will provide a detailed action list to the screen (stdout). Then we can id the specific problem and drive to a solution.

One suggestion off the top. If you are su-ing to the root user. Make sure to include the dash on the command line.

su -

Scalix installer leverages the evironment path of the root user and uses commands like ifconfig to check the network settings.

Please post the output of the detailed output here when you get a chance. I'd suggest changing host names to protect the innocent.

Thanks - Art

Hi,

I think we will need Enterprise edition because it will be for 30+ users. I checked the log file and the error message is a follows: "error operation failed:os release check fedora core release 4 (stentz). If I try putting in a - after su, it does not run at all.

Thanks,

Kev

Hi,

Error on my part, ran with - after sh. Same error message. Also tried --debug option, same error message. I ran this via enterprise edition as I assume this is the install I need to use.

Hi,

OK, let me recap. You ran the Community Edition installer with --debug and the output in the error log is "error operation failed:os release check fedora core release 4 (stentz)" ? Can you please copy and paste the complete log here.

Also, please copy and paste the complete contents of /etc/redhat-release

Thanks,

Sascha.

Hi Sascha,

I can't copy and paste as the server is not on the network. To recap, the community edition does not give an error, it's the enterprise edition that is giving this error.

/etc/redhat-release has the follow text: "fedora core release 4 (stentz)"

Thanks,

Kev

well, that's your problem. 9.2. had no support for FC4 and that is why I asked you to download Community Edition.

Cheers,

Sascha.
