gzip errors on extraction

Postby Ryan O'Rourke » Thu Mar 25, 2004 7:42 pm

When issuing a 'tar -xzvf scalix_8.2.0.tar.gz" I get the error
"gzip: stdin: decompression OK, trailing garbage ignored
tar: Child returned status 2
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors"

Is this normal? Is this directory tree complete?:

SuperMan

...mine worked

I didn't get that error.

Anyone know what the MD5 Checksum should be after download?

Looks OK

Ryan - the super dude is right...no one else has reported this, but not that you didn't get it.

Here's the MD5Sum on the tar.gz when I downloaded via FTP (which you can't do).

ffa36a27e36bd5cd9bb6893144f4d9eb scalix_8.2.0.tar.gz

The extraction you displayed has all the files - it looks correct. I would go ahead and install - ping here if you have issues.

Cheers.

I got the error too

Yes, me too. Trailing garbage in gzip file. Untarring gave me 34 files in 6 folders; 50,117,014 bytes in total.

Installs OK?

Folks, it appears when downloading with Mozilla, you'll get a different MD5SUM than what I posted, ultimately resulting in the "trailing garbage" when you untar the file.

I have subsequently installed with unpacked files and all is well.

Please let us know if you are having installation issues.

Cheers.

SOLVED: gzip errors

Postby ScalixSupport » Fri Apr 02, 2004 5:41 am

Hello all,

I've applied a fix to the download routine that should solve this problem.

Please continue to report any problems you may get after you've downloaded the file.

Best regards
