Scalix upgrade 11.1 to 11.2

Postby kmeyer2 » Tue Feb 26, 2008 5:44 am

we use scalix 11.1 on a open suse 10.1 server.
now we are at the limit of premium users (25). Total users are 60.
System:
Pentium Dual Core 2,6 mhz
4 gb ram (3 used) - 32 - bit

I want to install 8 gb ram cause if all users use the webinterface, the performance slows down , not that they can't work, but noticeable.

1.for stable use of 8gb ram I need a 64 bit System with memory-remapping functions in the bios.

2. I like to use the newer Open Suse 10.2 and to upgrade the scalix to 11.2 by the way.

My question ist, if there is a better way to upgrade than sxmboxexp/imp, cause some mailboxes have more than 2,5 gb size - and I can't kill the email-process of my company for days.

Need help - thanks for your reply!

You can create an empty mailstore, then copy /var/opt/scalix across, as long as you preserve permissions and ownerships and have the same hostname and IP on the new server. You may or may not have postgres issues if you do this, if you do you will need to recreate the postgres database.

Les has posted in another thread regarding this I remember, just can't remember where it is exactly.
