Scalix-tomcat wont start

most likely problem area is still hostname resolution. give us... hostname, hostname -s, hostname -f and the contents of /etc/hosts.

For the sake of helping future users:

After troubleshooting it was discovered that it was at least partially fixed by an unknown set of events, but probably by restarting apache (httpd).

I had been using the internal IP address to access it repeatedly, and kept getting a 404 error, however when I changed to using the DNS name I was then able to access the SAC page. (even though I tried both earlier, now the DNS works and the IP doesn't).

Ok, so things still aren't working.... I did manage to get the scalix-tomcat connector running after a reinstall, but then I rebooted the server because I was still getting this problem and restarting scalix-tomcat wouldn't help. So, I rebooted the computer, and was again never able to get it to start up.

By this time I was already 30 minutes past my deadline of having to get everything up and running for my early morning users, and since I still had all my anti-spam configuration etc to do I gave up, again, and reverted back to my old Scalix 10 drive that I started with tonight.

Does anyone have any idea why this keeps happening?

After some Private discussion, Mito has a tri-homed machine acting as his firewall in addition to his mail server.

My recommendation was to use a different box as a firewall, running either IPcop if he has a single ISP or pfSense if he uses 2 ISPs. This allows him to greatly simplify his Scalix server, and it likely provides better security for his server too.

This isn't a problem with my current Scalix 10 installation though, so why would it be a problem with my Scalix 11 installation?

In any case, I think what I'm going to do now is to get everything up and working on scalix 10 under the new OS etc, complete with my antispam etc. That way instead of having to repeat multiple hours of work, I can just repeat the small process of the actual scalix upgrade....
