Unable to send mail to: error

Please help. I have a new installation on a SLES9 sp3 box with Scalix 10.0.1 and can send mail between local users. However, when I try to send mail to any other valid email address outside the current domain I get the "Unable to send mail to:" error.
I apologize for the newbie question, but what am I missing?

After enough reading through previous posts I found the answer -- smtpd.cfg relay settings for my domain.
