Scalix 9.1 SAC Problem

Postby hydrospace » Tue Mar 01, 2005 11:54 am

Hi,

I installed the SX 9.1 on a FC2 and added the SAC and webmail interface too. My firefox hangs up while loggin in. Using IE shows me "Error getting connecting to authentification server. Maybe netwrok problems.." Checking the localhost_log of the current date will show the following lines:

2005-03-01 13:32:20 StandardHost[localhost]: Error deploying application at context path null
java.io.FileNotFoundException: /opt/jakarta-tomcat-5.0.28/webapps/caa/META-INF/MANIFEST.MF (No such file or directory)

I really do not have any idea why. I already updates with install configurator --update --reconfigure --sac and so on.
---------------------------------------------------------
[root@mail etc]# cat hosts
# Do not remove the following line, or various programs
# that require network functionality will fail.
127.0.0.1 localhost localhost.localdomain
192.168.6.6 mail.medision.local mail
192.168.6.2 mario
192.168.6.3 thomas
------------------------------------------------------
[root@mail etc]# vi resolv.conf
search medision.local
nameserver 192.168.6.1

----------------------------------------------------

omldapsearch -h sxadmin -D "omulauthid=sxadmin@mail.medision.local" -wxxx cn=*
shows: No route configured to "Zielrechner" (I do not know the exactly translation of it ;-(

Any help would be fine...
Cheers

One more Error @ /opt/jakarta-tomcat-5.0.28/logs/catalina.out

SCHWERWIEGEND: Error deploying configuration descriptor scalix-swa.xml
java.io.IOException: java.io.FileNotFoundException: /opt/jakarta-tomcat-5.0.28/webapps/webmail/META-INF/MANIFEST.MF (No such file or directory)

Maybe this helps ;-)

This doesn't look like the SAC and webmail files installed correctly.

Are you running tomcat as root ?

The deployment files are extracted from the .war files in /opt/scalix/web, can you confirm that they are present.

For security reason tomcat runs under a user tomcat. Like we learned at scalix fundamentals. I check for the .war files tomorrow.

thanks for that

the folder contains:

[root@mail root]# cd /opt/scalix/web/
[root@mail web]# ls
caa-services.war scalix-admin.xml scalix-swa.war
scalix-admin-console.tar.gz scalix-caa.xml scalix-swa.xml
[root@mail web]#

It seems to be normal...

Running tomcat as a non-root user is not going to work with Scalix 9.2 and above. With 9.1, it is not recommended either. This has been removed from our training courses.

While we appreciate that this is an inherent security risk, there are still binaries that the Admin Console uses which require root permissions. So, for the moment, the Scalix requirement is that tomcat is run as root.

Please can you make the change and post the results.

An addendum to my last post is that we are reviewing this and looking to ways that we can resolve the issue but it will require an architectural change.

Hi Dave,

thanks for your help. After changing the ownership of tomcat back to root the sac works fine. The start site of the swa is visible but it shows the login button after cancelling the load. And the login does not works. I already checkes the partner.xml but everything seems to be fine.

Cheers

Please let SWA load the page to completion. There is some background processing that needs to complete before login will work successfully.

When you say that the login does not work, are you getting an error message returned or is there no response from the server after you click login ?

Cheers

Hi Dave,

well it seems that I found the problem. Via a vpn it takes a lot of time to load the whole start page. After finishing by it self it worked really fine...

Thanks for your help

Stefan
