RHEL 4 Hang at "Creating Scalix Server message store&qu

Postby mglazier » Sat Feb 25, 2006 8:44 pm

Installing CE version in RHEL 4 i386.

After a few screens a dialog appears saying, "Creating Scalix Server message store (may take a few minutes)"

Well, it takes a lot longer than that. I have killed it, uninstalled and retried with the same results. The end of the log file is at the end of this message.

I am stumped. I have searched the forum archives and have not found any clues.
Please help.
Thaks.

Are you running RHEL in a VM ? I've seen this behaviour in that situation. It's taken at least 5-10 minutes before the message store creation completes whereas a genuine machine will take 3-5 minutes to complete.

Cheers

You can also check the progress on this by issueing the following command in a separate window:

Code: Select all

tail -f /var/opt/scalix/sys/install/log

While things are moving here, something is happening.

The time it really takes is usually dependent on the disk performance as this is a disk-intensive part of the overall setup.

It rarely really fails,
