SSL webmail and sac...must use port to login

Postby Detachable » Thu Feb 23, 2006 2:44 pm

I know from the documentation and reading here that you don't need to specify a port when using v10 to login to webmail or sac with https, but this is the only way it worked for me. I'll galdly post logs and configs if someone can tell me where the best place is to start.

Couple of things to mention:

I can login without ssl by giving the url and /webmail/ or /sac/ but if I use https I get from IE something to the effect of "Connection terminated unexpecedly, some information may have been sent" And from firefox I get essentailly the same.

I have played with the server.xml to no avail. Currently the information for connector 8443 is commented out, and the 8080 is still open. I haven't changed any settings in either of them. If I comment out the 8080 and open the 8443:, then I can't log into anything, SSL or unsecured. Everything ends in a 503 error for 8443, or a server temproarily unavailable message for 8080.

Worth mentioning is that if I leave off the https:// at the beginning and just type the address:8443/webmail/ it tried to download a file of type application/octet-stream - Which doesn't seem right at all.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

-Rob

As we're serving the tomcat pages via Apache, the first test to do is to see if you can use SSL to the home page, i.e. https://server.name.com

If that works OK, you don't have a problem with Apache's configuration. You may see that the certificate is a localhost.localdomain one but that's not a problem.

Can you check the Apache error logs when you attempt to access sac or webmail. Also check the catalina.out file in /opt/scalix-tomcat/logs to see if there is anything obvious in there.

Cheers

Dave
