Scalix 10 on SELS9 problems

After installing Scalix 10 and updating scalix connect we get a message claiming "No license for this type of client". The message shows up while using Outlook 2000. The name and password supplied are correct because the Scalix server halts the process if the information is not valid. This is a little troubling because the upgrade seems to work, the permanent license matches up with one I downloaded last week, but no connections are allowed. Also, running any Scalix commands from the command line are responded to with a "which Scalix Server system" message. The system runs Scalix and sendmail and forwards mail to an mta located on the firewall that runs email and http (linux-based)scanning software along with a port forwarder. Everything seemed to run fine until the attempted upgrade. This is the second time that I have used my trusty DLT drive to fix sendmail and uncripple tomcat. Any suggestions would be most helpful.

We've seen some issues where after an upgrade, the license manager server is not started properly.

Can you check the Output of omstat -a and see if it is running? Also you should check the output of sxlicense and sxlicense -u and see if that makes sense to you.

That file looks to be correct for a Scalix 10 server as the changes we added to support multiple instances will generate the config for any existing installation.

However, it shouldn't be prompting for the instance name. This would seem indicate that there were problems with the installation.

Can you run the command:

Scalix 10 seems to be up and running and commands are able to be issued on the command line. The Licence Monitor Daemon status is aborted. Since I have no idea how to start the license daemon I will leave the machine in this semi-crippled state until I hear something. We have a couple of hours before I will need to get 9.4 back up and running. The mail continues to be routed in from the firewall (toby) and queued on the scalix 10 machine. No license available for this type of client is what greets you when trying to start outlook. Thank you for the help -- I think it is pretty close to working.

Accept my apologies, I was wrong. The Scalix 10 machine is bouncing mail due to an unlicensed domain. This should go away with the Licence Monitor Daemon started and running. No big deal -- close to 90% is UBE.

We seem fine now. After a restart and removing and reinstalling some pieces and packages, watching omlicmon stutter and abort a couple of times, it started normally and functions as it should. You guys were correct in thinking that something went wrong with the installation. I am still unable to login to the administration console. The login window comes up and then beefs about a possible problem with the administration server. If we can figure this one out then I will get out of your hair. Thanks again,
