Methods of deploying scalix 10 upgrade

Im currently running scalix server ver 9.4.0.8 on suse enterprise 9, and I'm looking to upgrade to Scalix 10 soon.
Now, is it possible to deploy the Scalix 10 Connect for Outlook before the server gets upgrade to 10? Is that that possible ? and what sort of impact would I expect if I deploy Scalix 10 in that order?

For me, I always deploy the connectors to a select test group before I do the whole enterprise.

When I roll out to the whole enterprise, I usually wait a few weeks so that I know everyone has logged in and upgraded their connect software. After that, I usually roll the server upgrade.

Currently I'm running the latest connect 10.0.0.352 on Scalix 9.2.1.24.
