The log shows you started at 14:13:57 and ends at 14:16:51. That's only three minutes. The install process takes longer than that. How long did you wait?

What kind of machine is this? Type of processor? How much RAM is available before starting the installer?

Are you installing directly on the server or are you trying to run through an X terminal?

Please try runnning the installer in debug mode.

Code: Select all

./scalix-installer --debug

Alternatively you could try running in command line mode.

Code: Select all

./scalix-installer --cli

Thanks,
Don

same problem for me

Postby allotria » Thu Feb 16, 2006 10:12 am

I also encountered the same problem as the OP.

The Scalix-Installer simply hung and used 100% of CPU power.
I left it do this for 45min in order to give it enough time. But then I had to kill it.

I was installing with the graphical installer in X.

My machine has a Intel Celeron 2.4GHz CPU with 1GB of RAM.

Especially strange is the following line in the install log right before the installer froze:
2006-02-16 13:57:17,690 INFO Server version 10.0.0.175 is a newer version that can be licensed

Is there a problem with the installer? Or with the licence checking server?

Thanks for your help!
Manuel

I've got exactly the same problem on the Comminuty edition, dowloaded this morning.
The installation runs through fine and reports packages being installed, I then enter the admin contact details and the pop-up box titled "information" appears and freezes.
I left it running for over an hour while I was out but it was still hanging - so I had to kill the process in the end.

I've tried uninstalling and re-installing - but the same problem.
This is on a fresh installation of Fedora Core 4.

Last line in the log is:
2006-02-16 15:49:45,040 INFO Server version 10.0.0.175 is a newer version that can be licensed

In the meantime I tried the commandline installer, and it seemed to work.

Me too!

So there's the solution - obviously there's a problem with the GUI installer.
Cheers.
