You may have to consult Google for this :) No idea how to do it.

Mailertable is used for routing exceptions, i.e. if you want to ignore the MX record for domain.com and send it onwards to a different server. Usually used in relay servers only.

AFAIK domain depend routing is a kind of routing exeption, isnt it?

No idea how to consult google or using mailertable ;)

I found serveral articels related to configure mailertable, but not very in-depth.

Ah, then I misunderstood you.

As for mailertable, I normally do the following:

Code: Select all

example.org<TAB>esmtp:[mail.example.org]
.example.org<TAB>esmtp:[mail.example.org]

The [] will tell sendmail to ignore MX lookups completely for the domain.

The first result for "sendmail mailertable" in Google brings up this: http://www.sendmail.org/m4/mailertables.html which is as complete a document as you will find. Goes a bit more in-depth than I have.

Hi,

thanks for the link, this is what i have found too on google.

But i dont understood how mailertable uses smarthosts with auth, and its not described in this document. (or in those i found on google)

In summary i know:

for each domain i have to put an entry in the mailer table, rebuild the Database.

But does mailertable route the mails depend on the Sender Domain or the Receiver Domain?

For example:

in mailertable i have following entrys: example.org<TAB>esmtp:[mail.example.org]

it would route mails from example.org in the sender domain through mail.example.org or mails which have example.org in the receipient domain?

Recipient domains only, not sender. It's in the routing table for sendmail, so it will only affect where mail gets sent to. Not sure how to set up a smarthost environment for this, though.

If you don't get helped here it may be useful to ask on a sendmail list or Usenet group (comp.mail.sendmail?). There is likely a way to get sendmail to do this, and one of the experts may be able to help.
