imapsync, restrict access for few users with reverse proxy

Postby toni31 » Fri Feb 01, 2008 7:29 pm

Hi,

first topic is the migration via imapsync. following the scalix wiki article, it syncs well, but the question is, how to behave with user's passwords. do i need to tell everybody (nearly 300 users) to give me their passwords in order to write the file, which is used in the imapsync-script? or is there any other way?
Concerning imapsync it's also interesting for me, how to migrate some folder into the equivalent with a different name, e.g. source (thunderbird) is "gesendet", the web interface of the source mailserver shows "sent items" and scalix named this folder "Gesendete Objekte" like outlook. thunderbird, outlook and scalix webaccess (all with different namin schemes)will be used too at 50% of users after the migration. I'm not quite familiar with the option of imapsync to copy the source-folder to the destination mailserver with a different name. please provide some example.

Second issue is about the possibility to restrict webaccess from the internet when using a reverse proxy based on apache (located at DMZ) described in the scalix installation guide. e.g. users, who aren't allowed from the internet can only be authenticated when they have an ip-adress out of 192.168.1.0/24 and or not equal with the ip of the apache? source-ip will be dynamic of allowed webmail-users, so i cannot restrict that ip-based. Highly recommended is also a link with some details about securing the apache acting as a reverse proxy.

Thank you very much
