Debian Etch, Error with install license Key

Hallo,

wollte eine Community Version zu einer SBE machen. Beim Einspielen des Lizenz Key über SAC bekomme ich folgende Fehler.

Ungültige Lizenz. Diese Lizenz ist entweder Abgelaufen oder es wurde versucht sie zu verändern.

Das ganze läuft unter einer Debian Etch, Scalix ist 11.1.

Muß ich noch was vorbereiten um die Lizenz einzuspielen.

hi,

debian is an unsupported community platform for Scalix; as such, while we provide the basic packages for community use, our license keys issued to turn this into one of the commercial product editions do not work with the debian packages.

The only way to get a debian-based commercial installation is to go through one of our "OEM" products, either Scalix on Univention UCS (www.univention.de) or, of course, Xandros Server 2.0, made by our mother company.

That is not realy true that it is not possible to change the license in a Debian-Installation?

I also setup a Debian-Etch-System like all my Servers to test the Scalix-Mail-System with the Comunity-Release and a few of Users and i also plan to change the License after the Testing-Period without changing the Distribution.

Is there a Plan to change this in future Releases or is it better to stop all the Tests and save Time.

Peter,

at this point, this is true - debian is an unsupported platform and we only provide community edition packages, no SBE or EE functionality.

There are no specific plans to change this; the reason for this is that every fully supported platform is a big overhead for us, including several days of testing for each and every release, keeping up a reference system in support, etc. Also, for a fully-supported platform, we would also need to provide a more polished installation, resulting in further development work.

For plain debian/Etch, the business case is not really there as most of our commercial customers prefer distrbutions like RHEL or SLES where they can get support for the distribution itself as well.

Therefore, I would recommend that you move to one of the supported platforms before going live with this.
