at this point, this is true - debian is an unsupported platform and we only provide community edition packages, no SBE or EE functionality.
There are no specific plans to change this; the reason for this is that every fully supported platform is a big overhead for us, including several days of testing for each and every release, keeping up a reference system in support, etc. Also, for a fully-supported platform, we would also need to provide a more polished installation, resulting in further development work.
For plain debian/Etch, the business case is not really there as most of our commercial customers prefer distrbutions like RHEL or SLES where they can get support for the distribution itself as well.
Therefore, I would recommend that you move to one of the supported platforms before going live with this.
