Directory usage

Postby JoC » Tue Sep 25, 2007 4:11 pm

I'm new at Linux and trying to find my way around. I'm currently trying to free up some space on my Scalix server and wasn't sure if I could delete the information that is stored in /var/opt/scalix/mp/s/temp. Anyone, know what info is stored here? Also, is there other data that I can delete to free up space?

I've also tried to delete some of the system email but I don't seem to be very successful, any suggestions?

Never delete anything in ~/temp and ~/tmp while the Scalix server is running, you will cause issues. ~/temp contains some stuff you don't want deleted (MIME-caches, amongst others). A regular omscan -a (and if it reports errors maybe a omscan -afx) will keep this clean. You can check the ~/orphans directory, although omscan should clear out messages there too on a regular basis.

In short, don't delete stuff in the Scalix data directory unless you understand what it is (and even then I am very hesitant to do it).
