Linux newbie questions

Postby tlebryk » Tue Sep 18, 2007 11:15 am

Hi all,
I am very very new to Linux and cannot make heads or tails of the Scalix install. I have installed RHEL4 on an old Dell Optiplex to try to test the trial version of Scalix with premium users. I am running into problems I don't understand and may need some hand-holding as I trudge through all the details.

1. The dependencies state that Scalix needs Postgresql version 7.13 or something like that but I can only find the 7.5 version and it is not in an RPM package on the postgresql web site. What are all those .tar files on that site and how do I install and which is the right .tar file???? Very confusing.

There will be more questions. I am not with the test system right now and will post more questions when I get home tonight from work.

Tom

You seem stuck on step 7a)
You may have to remove PostgreSQL from the original OS and install it again from scalix if there is version conflict. Be prepared to run the install/config script more than once.

Thanks! I will try and let you know. Trying to get used to the new commands. I come from a Windows background, if it isn't already obvious.
