Network Check Errors.

Postby ryoojin83 » Wed Aug 08, 2007 2:16 pm

I have looked through this and other forums and I have not been able to find an answer.

I am using the GUI install of Scalix on Fedora Core 5. When Scalix is running the System Check, my network check fails with the following messages.

"""
Network check failed -- Could not find a host name in DNS that matches an IP anndress
Netowrk check failed -- IP address '<my ip>' associated with host name '<my host name>.<my domain name>' in DNS cannot be confirmed as this host's IP address.
"""

I am running Fedora Core on a vmware server. Fedora is setup as DHCP (I know it says its supposed to be static).

/etc/hosts/
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
<my ip> <hostname>.<domainame> <hostname>

(sorry im not actually putting data in)

I also went into network config (gui) and added my routers ip as a DNS, and also added 2 more real DNS addresses. Am I getting these errors because scalix can't reverse lookup my ip to a host name? I am honestly just confused. Thanks for your time.

EDIT: I am behind a router, but I have the ports forwarded to the machine with scalix

well, in my /etc/hosts file, i changed it from my routers ip (the web ip that was forwarded to my box) to the actual local ip 192.168.xxx.xxx and it worked...
