Hi Chris!

The ommakeom command would create the configuration file at /opt/scalix/global/config.

Please refer to the man page of ommakeon for details of how to create an instance.

Thanks,
Subir

Hi Chris!

The version issues are handled by installer as it runs ompatchom for this, but may do more.
Can you send me the contents of the file /opt/scalix/global/config, also with reference to the
error:
"Fatal error occured: Msg: ('An error occurred running', '/opt/scalix/bin/omshowmn', 'exit status', 98)"

Check the following post that handles same issue:
viewtopic.php?t=4930
For me the /etc/hosts file looks like:
# Do not remove the following line, or various programs
# that require network functionality will fail.
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
192.168.103.112 subir-rhel4.scalix.co.in subir-rhel4

Hope this helps.

Thanks,
Subir

Hi Subir,

here is the config file:

OMNAME=server
OMHOSTNAME=server.xxxxxx.de
OMDATADIR=/home/scalix
OMAUTOSTART=TRUE

OMNAME=DEFAULT
OMHOSTNAME=xxxxxx.de
OMDATADIR=/home/scalix
OMAUTOSTART=true

Here my /etc/hosts

# IP-Address Full-Qualified-Hostname Short-Hostname
#

127.0.0.1 localhost

# special IPv6 addresses
::1 localhost ipv6-localhost ipv6-loopback

fe00::0 ipv6-localnet

ff00::0 ipv6-mcastprefix
ff02::1 ipv6-allnodes
ff02::2 ipv6-allrouters
ff02::3 ipv6-allhosts

85.xx.xx.42 server.xxxxxx.de server

What do you mean with "reference to the error"?

Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris!

It seems the installation has gone all wrong, the Scalix installer should create user and
group 'scalix', lets not create it by ourself. Also, let the data directory be /var/opt/scalix
instead of /home/scalix, I see there are two instances. I see the installation to be
improper, lets remove currently installed Scalix manually and try the installation again.

To remove:
1. Remove all scalix RPM's that result for the command rpm -qa | grep scalix
2. Recursively delete all files and folder located at /var/opt/scalix/* /etc/opt/scalix* and /opt/scalix*
3. Delete 'scalix' user and group if any in the system.
4. Untar the backup in such a way that the files get extracted in /var/opt/scalix.
5. Start the scalix installer for Scalix 10.0.5.

Keep a track of the installer log generated at /var/log.

Thanks,
Subir

Hi Subir,

Some confusion - when restoring a backup to a fresh server should I not create the scalix user/group similar to old server before untar'ing?

Thanks,
Kimmo
