Postby dennis » Mon Jan 29, 2007 1:26 pm

While working on some other issues i had a user call me regarding his inbox in the webmail would not load, found this error listed below. Any thought on how to correct this? I edited out the username for this post.

Not a fix but a work around. Was doable based on this user is a pop3 type user.

I needed to pop the account in question first, we use outlook.

Delete the Scalix user.

Recreate the Sclix user.

In oulook create a new email account using imap in the same profile as the pop3 account is.

Once logged in and the imap account was availible i was able drag the pop3 inbox mail to the inbox mail of the imap account.

After the copy was complete i closed out outlook and logged back into webmail and was able to log in and retrieve the inbox contents again.

I have detailed log info if support tells me where to submit it or i can PM florian with a link.

Database corruption maybe?

My biggest fear would be, if this user was an imap only user and he had mail in other folders would i have been able to retrieve them all using the steps above. Would pop3 have grabbed all the data.

can those of you WITH an account that has the issue run omscan -AxvU <lastname> on the user and see if this reports any problems?

I will log into all users accounts to see if i get this issue again. The one account was cleared be poiping then deleting/creating new.

Would you like me to send all the logs in a PB link to you? I think i might have the info you seek already.

Florian - is it possible to run this command against all users at the same time? omscan -AxvU <lastname>

If not i'll try to run it on all of them singly this morning.

Regards

sure, -Aa is the right basic switch to run against all users. just wanted to safe you some time as the full scan _can_ take fairly long.....

cheers,

Thank you, maybe i'll run it over this evening unless it's not a load on the system. Will it slow down email collection at all?

about 50 users or so it would be hitting. Any thoughts on how long it might take to run it with 50 users?

yes, it will certainly slow down everything, so I'd advise to run it in off-hours anyway.

no guesstimate, as this will depend on number and size of items, overall system load and system IO performance. look, live and learn.

I'm having the same problem with one user and only their Inbox which is causing the following errors when trying to view the message via SWA (or IMAP):

Code: Select all

ERROR                          IMAP Server Da(IMAP Server Pr) 02.06.07 15:25:46

        <- /build/11.0.1/src/lib/ct/ct_octner.c:64[3,3433]

Per the instructions earlier in this thread, I ran omscan -AxvU for errors, and didn't encounter any, but here are the results:

Code: Select all

[root@mail ~]# omscan -AxvU "Carol Brown"
omscan running on 02.06.07 at 15:17:37.
Host computer : mail.domain.com.

Current server cycle not started; service reset or delayed.

Extra check option requested.
Active scan option requested.

Scanning file/dir links .... done.

CAUTION: Scanning of message store has started.
Mounted file/dir links must be maintained during the scan.
VxFS file system must not be reorganized - see omscan(1M).

Checking/Scanning user trays ....Carol Brown / mail, domain/CN=Carol Brown
 done.

Disk usage ....

Carol Brown /mail,domain    714      1    332 256598      1      1 257647

I did upgrade to 11.0.1 over the weekend, but the problem started a few days prior to that, so it could stem from a bug in 11.0.0.

I've also ran omscan against the entire mailstore and didn't have any problems reported.

Any other things I can try?

Thanks!

-Mike

Hi!

I am seeing these errors as well on a particular user. I have run omscan -AxvU <username> as requested by Florian, and it completed fine.

My system in a fresh sles9 sp3 install with an older message store. It's currently running scalix 11.0.1. Let me know what I can do to help.

Here are examples from my fatal:

Can you try to clear out your imap folder cache as follows:

1. make sure the user is logged out, i.e.

Code: Select all

omstat -u all

should not show any more sessions for him.

2. determine the user folder directory, i.e.

Code: Select all

omshowu -n <lastname> -f

3. Go there (the so-called g-directory of the user)

Code: Select all

cd /var/opt/scalix/??/s/user/????????/

4. This should have a subdirectory called imap-cache. delete that:

Code: Select all

rm -r imap-cache

5. Try accessing the user's mailbox using IMAP again.

Florian.

we had the same problem. deleting imap-cache worked here.
