Scalix EE multi server setup with dedicated MAPI and SWA

Postby caribk » Thu Nov 10, 2005 7:27 pm

we've been evaluating CE for a while and are considering a move to EE with a multi server setup (in internal and one co-located where internal forwards mail to external in a "smarthost" fashion).

all that is no problem, but i was wondering if the EE installer is different with regard to the Apache and Tomcat requirements so that I can install and run Scalix server on the internal box with MAPI only for internal Outloook clients, and just run Apache/Tomcat for SWA on the external box?

from my experience with CE it seems that you would have to install apache/tomcat on both boxes and just choose not to use them for one of the machines?

Hi,

The EE is slightly different. It has a "custom" mode which you can use to install one or more components. You could install the Server on one machine and SWA only on the other (external) machine. The installer wizard should prompt you for all the right info you need to set the system up.

Please don't forget the Admin Console -- if you install that on a third machine then you will need the Remote Execution Service on the Server machine so SAC can communicate with it. If SAC is on the same machine it will talk to the Server using a local protocol so you don't need RES.

Hope that help,

Nick.
