Migrating from Exchage

Wondering if anyone has any thought about migrating from Exchange to scalix.

We're trying to put 1 user on the scalix system at a time. Not sure how to do that, think hostnames and delivery are going to be a problem. Open to all suggestions.

How many total users do you have?

Which version of exchange?

How many offices or Exchange Servers total?

What is your (ideal) timeline to complete?

Do you require 100% interoperability during the transition, or just email back and forth?

What are the desktop clients running?

Ok, 50 users is a licensed version of Scalix. With 1 server, it's much easier to manage. My recommendation would be to do this over a weekend. Use ex-merge to dump user PSTs, and use the Scalix Migration Tool to import them. SMT requires a licensed version of Scalix (that's part of the reason I asked how many users).

This will allow you to complete the migration in the most straight forward manner, and because it will happen much faster than one-by-one migration, you can avoid dealing with interoperability (which works, but takes a while to set up, and isn't really worth it (in my view) when there's only 50 users involved).

i'm wondering a bit. doesn't smt need a seperate commercial license ?!
reading your post i would mean that an ee or sbe license would be enough !

Correct, it does, but it's not expensive at all, and it'll greatly simplify your migration.
