Problem Installing on SUSE 9.2

Postby klicker » Tue Jul 26, 2005 4:12 am

Hello,

i would like to test the Software but could not Install it on a SUSE 9.2 Maschine.

The Problem is, that i get an Error Message every Time i try to start the Installer.

This is the Message i get:

xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by Server
xlib: No Protocol specified

After this the Installer quits.

What goes wrong here?

I have installed a Standart SUSE version, nothing Special configured.

As a front end i use KDE 3.3

If someone could help me please.

Best Regards, Mirko

The installer is an X client and the error is occurring because it fails to connect to your X server. Are you installing Scalix on a remote machine or on the workstation with KDE? If the former please try enabling remote X connections by typing:

xhost +

Hope this helps,

Nick.

Hello,
thanks for the Answer.

I tried to Install it on the Loacal Maschine.

Know i find out what was wrong :

I MUST log in as an Root user, then the Installation windows startet.
But after a short while there comes an error Message, that i tried to Install the Software on a not Supportet OS!!

After this i downloaded SUSE 9.3 and startet everything again.
But know i have the Problem, that he tolded me that the JAVA Version is wrong.

I have Installed the SDK like the Manual said i have to do.

What do i make wrong that this is so complicatet ?

Mirko,

did you install your jdk as a rpm? if so, your java installation will be in /usr/java/j2sdk1.4.2_08 or very similar.

SuSE comes with a JRE installed by default; therefore, after installation there will be TWO java environments on your machine (eventually more...). You will then need to point the configuration screen to the right version (as above!)

if you can't bring this forward, could you run the installer with "sclaix-installer --debug" and post the output of this command here? this will help!

cheers,
Floran.

Good Morning,

and this is exactly my Problem.
There is only the Java Version running that comes with SUSE.

Where did i could tell SUSE to use the SDK Version?

Mirko
