Problem with creating account sxqueryadmin

Postby mwillett » Mon Jul 31, 2006 5:27 pm

Am having lots of problems installing Scalix on Suse 10. I've set to DNS ok (or at least I think I have and the debug does say "valid MX record").

However, when it comes to adding a user sxqueryadmin it fails. I've also noticed that there are no message files. /var/opt/scalix/sys/version doesn't exist - In fact /var/opt/scalix doesn't exist.

not sure whats going wrong. Here's the log - I'd appreciate any help.

Thanks

Mike

I'd like to see your /etc/hosts file. If you would like to change the domain name to protect the innocent that's fine but I'd like to see it in as much of its entirety as possible.

Thanks,
Don

I don't have a spare machine so I'm using VMWare will Suse installed. The hosts file I have is below. I've set up the name server on 192.168.1.7. dig seems to report correct details but I'm not a bind expert.

127.0.0.1 localhost

# special IPv6 addresses
::1 localhost ipv6-localhost ipv6-loopback

fe00::0 ipv6-localnet

ff00::0 ipv6-mcastprefix
ff02::1 ipv6-allnodes
ff02::2 ipv6-allrouters
ff02::3 ipv6-allhosts

192.168.1.207 XXX-suse.XXX.net XXX-suse

I have just tried to install Scalix 10 (Community edition) on Redhat AS 4.3.

Getting the following error

127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
192.168.99.100 scalix.local.********** scalix
192.168.99.100 ********************

Any ideas?

Have tried both text mode as well as gui install. Defaults most of the way.

Did you use any special characters when you set the sxqueryadmin password? We found a bug a few days ago that creation of the sxqueryadmin user does not work properly when $ characters were used in the password - reason is that the password is not quoted properly when the command is executed. I would suggest trying a plaintext password consisting of only numbers and letters to start with. The bug will be fixed in Scalix 11.

Cheers,
Florian.
