Fedora Core 5 with Scalix v10

Postby glenn » Tue Aug 22, 2006 5:16 am

Hi all,

Im new to Scalix but heard of its advantages so im trying to install a copy of it to one of my clean server. Installed FC5 and tried to install Scalix 10. But it keeps saying im did not install python 2.2, 2,3 or 2.4. However when i run a -qa i checked its already installed with python 2.4. Any idea why is it so? I heard FC5 is not support with Scalix. Any work around? Or its a must to install FC4? Any recommedations?
Thanks!

Server is IBM X336 with Xeon 3.2gig processor and 1gig DDR2 RAM and RAID1 136gig SCSI HDD

Scalix 10 is not supported on FC5; please use FC4 instead. Scalix 11 will support FC5.

Glenn,

I also tried to install on FC5 but ran into the same problems. Its not really worth the time in my opinion to try and make it fit.

You can find FC4 pretty easily and it makes life so much easier with this software. That is, of course, assuming that you are able to wipe that server and install FC4...

Or install VMWare and get FC4 running in there... :)
