Outlook 2013 and public address books

Postby christianroeser » Thu Sep 08, 2016 1:34 pm

Hello,

any ideas when this bug https://rm.scalix.com/issues/60125 will be solved? We just ordered the small business edition and use Outlook 2013 on nearly all PCs. Its not a real killer but it would be nice if we could use it in the nearer future.

With kind regards
Christian

Hi,

Please try below trick to create public address books
1. Launch the Outlook.
2. Click "Ctrl" and "6" key on the keyboard to view the Folder listed under your mailbox.
3. Right Click on Public Folders and Create a Folder Name like “Contacts” and Choose “Contact Items” in Folder Contains.
4. Then Right click on “My Contacts” folder in Public Folders, select properties, choose “Forms…” option in When posting to the folder, use:
5. Now you can create contacts in “Contacts” folder.

Hi,

thank you for your answer, but I think we are talking about different things.

I am able to create a public contact folder and contacts in this folder. My problem (and as I understand the creator of the bug means the same thing) the option to use a public contact folder in the address book is missing when Scalix is used in combination with Outlook 2013 - as shown in this picture in the bug report https://rm.scalix.com/attachments/download/347/office%20365account.JPG

I have one workstation with Outlook 2007, here works everything fine.

With kind regards,
Christian

Using a Public Folder for Outlook Address Book works even in OL 2013: only thing you have to take care of is to choose a proper label other than "Contacts" as this name is already in use by default Contacts folder in the Profile's mailbox (different versions of OL have different behavior on duplicate names).
In public folder's property, under the OL Address Book Tab, tick "show this folder [...]" and enter as Name something like "Public Contacts", "Shared Address Book" or whatever.

But my problem is, that this tab isn't available - as shown in this picture of the bug report: https://rm.scalix.com/attachments/download/348/scalix12.5+outlook%202013.JPG

Could you please check which permissions you have on "Contacts" Public Folder ?
Have you tried to create a different folder of type IPM.Contact with a different name ? (eg. Company Address Book)
In this case the Tab appears ?
