I am unable to send an email OUTBOUND (destination is not the local scalix server) from either outlook or web access. in fact sending an email outbound in web access crashes IE and Firefox on both Mac and PC.

The following exerpt from my smtpd.log shows:
(1) a successful local delivery
(2) a failed remote relay - no response after RCPT TO
(3) a failed incoming spam

Hello,

please post the content of your

/var/opt/scalix/sys/smtpd.cfg

Have you added your domain or your network to the RELAY ACCEPT lines?

RELAY accept 127.0.0.1
RELAY accept test.com
RELAY Log_Reject ALL

is what you need to look for.

Not sure if you want to change the behaviour of accepting spam for outbound domains,though ;-)

ok, now smtpd.log looks fine (i.e. finished submitting message, sent : 250 ok, etc), however, it is not arriving at the destination. but i found this in the SMTPD RELAY Service Event Log:

RELAY accept .com is VERY VERY BAD.

Please replace that with your domain name or ".domain.com" to also accept from subdomains under your top level domain.

if your mailhost ist "mailhost" and your domain is "domain.com", the entry should read "mailhost.domain.com".

You need to restart using omoff -d0 smtpd; omon smtpd to make the change active. The reason why the message does not arrive at the destination may be a local configuration issue. What does your sendmail log tell you?

i added 127.0.0.1 and localhost to /etc/mail/local-host-names and now my problem is fixed.
