SWA on Windows Remote Desktop

Postby abnormaliti » Wed Oct 05, 2005 8:49 pm

I have just rolled out SWA to 30 desktops running on Windows 2000 Terminal Services (RDP) across a WAN and users are reporting poor performance.

i have investigated the problem and have identified that it is a screen redraw problem mainly around the grey shading of the preview panel.

this often occurs in IE with web pages.

is there a way to modify, eg. skin or theme, the SWA? Or is there another solution?

Version: 9.4.0 Enterprise

Can you give some details on how you tracked this down ?

Cheers

Shaded areas in Web pages are a common problem over a slow RDP connection, as are animations (gifs, flash, etc).

So when an RDP client selects a new email the preview pane is refreshed and it redraws line by line. Depending on the speed of the link the user is accessing the RDP servers over will depend on how fast the redraw appears.

If I could change the preview area to a solid colour instead a shade this should improve user experience.

I have suggested that the preview panel be turned off and have had mixed reactions, some say it improved responsiveness, some say it didn't and other do not want to turn it off.
