Standalone Web Access Server Configuration (HowTo?)

Postby BigBirdy » Thu Jul 14, 2005 12:54 pm

I am going to be testing out the installtion and configuration of a standalone SWA server. No email services, no mail services etc. I just wanted to confirm/check on the process. Since the installer allows you to select to install only the SWA components, I am assuming the process would be something like:

1: Setup and configure tomcat, apache etc
2: Run the installer and select ONLY the "Scalix Web Access Server".
3: Somewhere during the install I guess I would be prompted for the ip/hostname of the Scalix server.

Thats it?

Can't try right now, but I am not sure if the installer currently handles this situation.

A way that certainly works is...

1) Install Java JDK + Tomcat
2) install scalix-swa RPM with RPM command
3) check python Version with "python -V"
4) install scalix-websplats-configurator-py2X RPM where the X depends on whether you're using python 2.2.x, 2.3.x or 2.4.x
5) run "configurator --install --swa" to integrate Scalix SWA into Tomcat
6) edit /etc/opt/scalix/webmail/partner.xml to point to the correct scalix server. be sure to replace all occurences of the hostname (default will be the hostnmae on which you install swa!)

hope this helps,
Florian.
