Is this a configuration somewhere? I have a public calendar with a bunch of reocurring events. Some of them show, however the majority of them do not (these all last zero minutes). I can see 0 minute recurring events fine from Outlook, but not from the web. Was this by design or am I missing something?

Indeed, this is by design. It is a little mind-bending to imagine a 0 minute appointment.
If you are using the calendar to gather tasks, you will be happy to learn that support for tasks in Scalix Web Access is in our long term road map.

I have been using these pretty much to represent tasks (as you guessed), however I do use them to represent events/appointments that have a start time but no definite end time. Do you have a better "best practice" for representing unknown length events/appointments via the web client?

You may use an all day appt. That's what I do in my personal calendar.
