Add Other Users Calendar

Postby Tobias » Mon Dec 07, 2009 5:52 am

Hello,

I installed last week the new Scalix server (Server Version 11.4.5.13150) and am facing problems with shared calendar etc. In the past with previous installation I got everything managed, but now not.

At first, I know there are different ways to share folders (calendar).

1. Share
- Tools > Edit Delegates (to maintain other users to have access directly to the Inbox, Contacts or Calendar. This should give them also the possibilities to receive messages in my name or to send them in my name (what is normally used by secretaries for example)
- Right click on Calendar > Edit Properties > Permissions (here I can setup per user the permission specific to the calender, if he should only view items and so on)
2. Open shared folders
- Add Additional Mailboxes (here I add a name and then, due to the permissions given in point 1, I can see either the Inbox, Contacts or Calendar in my tree view from the other user under a new entry "Mailbox - Firstname Lastname") - is this the only way?

This works so far. I can share the calendar and open it from another account.

What is not working for me is the menu point "Tools > Add Other Users Calendar". Why? What am I doing wrong and what is the difference to the way described in point 2?
Then, additionally, what is also not working, is the "Planning view" within the calendar view. When I click on it, I see only the calendar in planning view which I opened. Means, when I open my own calendar, click on planning view, I see one line with my appointments. When I click on the Calendar in the "Mailbox - Firstname Lastname" of another user and then again on planning view, I see only one line for the other users. I expected that I can see both lines to plan appointments between users! (OK, perhaps this is not working because I didn´t click on "Add Other Users Calendar", what I was not able to).

Could you help me out with this problem? Perhaps I´m doing it wrong and share and open the folders in a wrong way. In addition, all users are Premium users, so this should not be the point.

Thank you very much

Tobias

PS: in Outlook 2007 I´m also not able to open shared user calendars, but I think this is another problem ( http://www.scalix.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=8881 )?

What version of Outlook? File -> Open Other User's Folder works perfectly for me in 2003, and I believe in 2007 as well, though I can't test that immediately.

Alright, this works (OL2007). I was used to have the other calendar in the Folder List View in Outlook, but with your way it works. Although, the SWA problem still exists, because we often use SWA instead of Outlook.

Argh, found it. What I meant was "Tools > Scalix Properties > Advanced" and there add another Mailbox ...

Everything fine now!

But, to be honest, in SWA I´m still not able to select the menu entry "Add Others Users Calendar". Why? How to use the planning view correctly?

By the looks of things to view your own calendar in SWA you can then add the extra calendars there. Unsure why the menu link doesn't work. Only figured this out after via Outlook & Scalix connector we have no ability to view calendars any more after an update...
