Ver 10 Upgrade Causes Rules Wizard Error- w/log data

Postby TheDude » Sun Feb 19, 2006 6:06 am

I went from version 9.4.2 to 10 with only one hitch. When any of my SWA users try to login to the rules wizard they get this error: System Error : [SYS 1] Operation not permitted
The error pops up if you enter the correct password *or* not so it made me think it is some kind of permisions problem with apache, since if I remember correctly the rules wizard uses the apache installed on your Linux box and everything else uses the Tomcat install. Also, I created a new user to see if this was related to migrating the users to version 10 but the new user gets the error also.

Also, the rules that were setup in 9 are still working, they simply cannot be accessed via the web client.

Rules Wizard from webmail still down / Dave?

Postby TheDude » Wed Feb 22, 2006 6:37 pm

Sadly... I am reduced to "Shout Outs" to Dave for help....

I am using Apache 2.0.52 - does it help to know that?

Should I upgrade or downgrade Apache??? re-install Scalix 10?

I can't go back to 9.4.2 now, I have 4 days of messages in the new format!

I would have rolled back to 9.4.2 if I didn't think somebody on this board would instantly know what to do! Please Help!

Run the scalix-installer again. Select the option to reconfigure and select SWA as the component you want to reconfigure. As you click forward through the screens make sure you have enable rules wizard selected.

Also check /etc/opt/scalix/webmail/swa.properties to make sure the url is correct.

Restart apache.

Success?

What errors do you see in the apache error log?

Can you look at the file /opt/scalix/global/config and, in particular, the OMHOSTNAME value.

You need to be able to do a lookup on that hostname as it stands for things to work successfully. If you can't do a lookup on it, replace it with the FQDN of the server and restart Scalix.

Cheers

FQDN fix - fixed it

Postby TheDude » Thu Feb 23, 2006 1:26 am

Thanks Dave!

That one fix, from blahblah to blahblah.com puts me working now at 100% on version 10. Love all the changes, especially the user storage graph in SAC. That is a great.

Sorry to Don for my begging, but, I *do* give back to this forum also, most famously recently posting a fix on how to customize the login. I bet there were a lot of paying users watching for that answer before upgrading, there may have even been some waiting to see if *this* thread was answered, prior to making the leap to 10.

9.4.2 worked so well that making the leap to 10 is, well, scary. Nobody wants to have the companys email down. I am sure that as my company grows I will end up writing a check to you guys one day, that is part of the beauty of your biz model, our companys get to grow together.

Thanks very much for the forum and the great product,

Dude
