Hello,

Is it possible to disable the Public Folders in the Webmail?
I have Premium Users and they should only have access the public folders in Outlook and not in the webmail!

How can i configure this?

regards
Matthias

I don't believe this is possible. SWA and Outlook uses the same ACL's to control access.

Why would you want to do this? Perhaps there's another way to achieve your objective.

I have a situation now , where someone's deleted items are going into the public folder!
Chris Olson left me a message on my voice mail but I've not heard anything back since.

I want to disable the Public Folders on WebAccess because the performance is very low. A another reason is that we have confidential data in the public folder. Currently we use only Outlook and no WebAccess, the server is only in the LAN available.

Well, data protection should ALWAYS be via apppropriate folder ACLs, because those would apply to all clients and be the only safe solution.

There is an IMAP tweak that disables public folders visible in IMAP, can be set per-system or per-user, and would affect SWA, too.

Also, if you downgrade your SWA users to standard users, as a side effect they won't get the public folders either.

But I still think ACLs are the way to go.

I have to look into what happened to your support ticket. This is embarassing. Apologies in the meantime.

Florian.

hi Florian,

This IMAP Tweak also disable Public Folders in Outlook (E-Mail Client)
Is this correct?

I know that I can restrict the Public Folders with ACLs.

It would not disable public folders in Outlook when using Scalix Connect for Outlook, as that does not use IMAP. It would disable Public Folders in Outlook/IMAP, i.e. without Scalix connector.

bikerider,

I check with support management; according to them, they left you a voicemail is response to your call, including contact information and requested that you would call back at a convenient time.

Not sure what happened here, but just wanting to reconfirm that we didn't drop the ball on this.... or did I miss anything?

Tx,
Florian.

yup. or in any IMAP client, fwiw.

if you check the man page, however, you will see that this can be set
- per user
- per client IP address
so... if those clients differ in either of these, you can have it narrowed down.

Again - I still wouldn't recommend gown down that route at all. You need proper ACLs.
