This has probably been asked a hundred times before, so apologies up front, however what is the present state of development support for webmail with Safari and Opera?
These browsers are widely used here and asking someone to use Firefox just results in tuts and sighs.

This is a good reply!

We installed Scalix a few months back and have found it very, very impressive indeed. Aside from a few headaches during the install and testing phase, it's now very stable and reliable on a CentOS v5.3 box. Just upgraded from v11.4.4 to v11.4.5 too, which went very smoothly!
Anyway, quite a few of my users are investing in iPhones and wishing to access the mobile web page using Safari, but it's not happening (JavaScript error). Odd thing is that the same page appears to work on the Mac workstations we have in our Publicity department, and the iPhone we tested it on during the install/testing phase worked but not after going live? Not sure why!
Anyway, looking forward to Safari compatibility to put a smile on my users' faces (for a change!).
Big thanks to the Scalix team for such brilliant work.

Even with SX 11.5, with Safari support, although it will run on a MAC, it likely won't run on an iPhone. I did have a look at an alpha version of it a while ago, and the phone simply didn't have enough RAM to make it work, that was an iPhone 3G. I haven't tried with the iPhone 3GS yet, so I can't comment on it, but I'd guess that unless you kept your email REALLY clean, it still likely won't work. Why not just use ActiveSync?
The limitation on the iPhone will be that as there is more items in your folder, it'll require more RAM to run SWA. The iPhone 3G had 128, and the 3GS has 256. So that's fairly limited compared to a desktop.
What I can say, is that even now, your clients can use ANY web browser to connect to the Scalix Mobile client. go to https://server.domain.com/m and you'll be able to sign in. It is designed for mobile phone use, but is quite limited.
I have seen others use Squirrelmail or Imp/Horde to connect to a Scalix server as well. They're somewhat less limited, but certainly not the equal of SWA.
Your best bet on a phone will be to use either Activesync, or BES. Depending on the type of phone.
Kev.
