Problems Accessing SWA

I have one user who is unable to check his email with SWA. He has no problems using Outlook, but needs SWA as well since he is often out of the office. When He tries to access webmail, the process hangs at "Accessing Mailbox" After several minutes he receives the error:
After clicking OK, he can access his calendar and deleted items folder, but all other folders appear empty. If he hovers over the Inbox folder the popup says it contains 838 items. Clicking send/receive has no effect. If he clicks on any folder other than deleted items, He receives the same error as above.
He has the same problems accessing mail with both IE and Firefox, however, the error message only displays in Firefox.
I have tried recreating the SIS index for this account, but this did not resolve the issue.
