Hello,

after upgrading from 11.4.1 to 11.4.3 on a test environment, theres a problem with the foldernames.
I have a german environment with SLES10 and when I open the filing area of a user with omcontain, there are german foldernames. With 11.4.1 when creating a subfolder "Privat" in "Kontakte" with SWA, then the subfolder will be created under the folder "Kontakte", which I can see also with omcontain. All OK.

But now after an upgrade to 11.4.3, when creating the new subfolder "Privat" with SWA, than the new subfolder is not usable. With omcontain I can see, that there was created a new Toplevel-Folder "Contacts" in the filing area.

For testing I've also created a completly new testuser in sac with german language settings. I looked into his filing area with omcontain and the foldernames are all german. Then I created a new subfolder and also here the subfolder was not created in "Kontakte" but a new Toplevel-Folder "Contacts" was created with contains the new subfolder.

In the moment I cannot upgrade to 11.4.3 because SWA will mess up user mailstores with this behaviour.

Any hints what can cause this?

I've done a few tests now:

Also if I want to create a subfolder in "Kalender", then a new Toplevel-Folder "Calendar" containing the new subfolder is created.
Same with "Notizen" -> "Notes"
But if I create a new contact (not a subfolder) in "Kontakte", then this is created in "Kontakte", how it should be.

It seems that scalix or imapd, does not recognize the language of the mailstore correctly.

What can I do?
No one else with the same problem?
Or no one working with subfolders there ?

The same here in my german invironment. I have installed 11.3.0. Then update to 11.4.2, 11.4.3.

I wanted to see if its an upgrade problem, so in my test environment, I deinstalled Scalix, deleted /etc/opt/scalix, /etc/ini.d/scalix*, /opt/scalix* and the complete mailstore.

Then I installed 11.4.3 completely new on this SLES10 64-Bit editition, with a new mailstore and with another mailnode name.

After that I created a new user (the first on this fresh installed scalix) with german language settings:

omaddu -n testuser/<mailnode> -p testpass -l german

Then I logged into SWA with this new user and checked with omcontain that the foldernames are in german:

With Thunderbird IMAP shows the same behavoiur, so this thread seems to be in the false forum.
Can anyone with SLES10 and 11.4.3 or 11.4.2 tell me that this should work with this combination?

I also upgraded an old manual gentoo installation from 11.4.1 to 11.4.2 some time ago and today I found out, that on this machine the scalix installation exactly has the same problem.

I think Kontakte (contacts) is a special folder. There can exists only the subfolder named Kontakgruppen (contact groups) for the combatibility to Outlook. Other folder names are not provided.

"Kontakte" is a systemfolder.
But I don't want to create an new "Kontakte"-Topfolder.
I want to create a new subfolder in "Kontakte". This worked until 11.4.1, also with Outlook.

Ok.

Today I have setup a complete new system to verify this problem on another OS.

- OpenSUSE 11.0 64-Bit as a XEN Guest
- Scalix-11.4.3 (Small Business Edition)

It's reproducible.
Maybe someone (from Scalix) can try it also with this few steps:
1. Open SAC, create a new User with german language.
2. Open SWA, right click on "Contacts" (or "Kontakte", I found out that UI language doesn't matter), click on "New Folder", type in a Foldername and then save with "OK"
3. Open the new created subfolder, then try to create an new contact there.

Now with 4 different systems I get here an error:
"An error occured wthile trying to save this contact. Would you like to reopen the unsaved contact?"
The reason of this error is the behavior of the IMAP, as I described in my earlier posts.

I also get no german foldernames with thunderbird against the german account on 11.4.3.
On 11.4.1 I get german foldernames with the same thunderbird.
Same reason?

Now I don't think anymore that it is a configuration problem.

What to do now? Should I open a bug report?
If more people reporting the same behavior than maybe it's time for a support ticket....

BTW, the following problem I got with the installer both on SLES10 and on OpenSUSE11.0, thanks to hvle for the solution. Maybe also worth a bug report?

If you use german Mail (OSX) or Outlook (Windows) with Scalix IMAP folders you has the same problem with the english folder names....

I just found this in the release log of 11.4.2:
Bug 17769 [Improvement] All "Special Folders" should be mapped to there normalized english names when exposed through IMAP

I think this could explain why Thunderbird and other IMAP-Clients are showing english foldernames since 11.4.2.
As I said with 11.4.1 I get german foldernames with Thunderbird and also SWA is working properly.

Maybe SWA gets the english foldername "Contacts" for the internal german foldername "Kontakte" and the IMAP server does not "remap" the english foldername into the german one and creates internal the english folder "Contacts"?
Only an idea, I'm not a developer.

This is quite interesting.

First of all, for a new account, if the first login is with IMAP, the folders should actually always be created with their English names on the server (as visible through omcontain); the fact that SWA shows German names is just a re-mapping of Special' folders names that happens on the client.

The only way that I know that would lead to non-english folder names to be created would be if the first login to a mailbox is via a non-english version of Outlook; this creates the folders itself and tends to do so in localized form.

From that moment onwards, Outlook and SWA will show names of special folders always appropriate to their UI language.

The per-user language setting (omaddu/ommodu -l or SAC) should not make a difference; this is only for system-generated messages like NDNs or similar sent to the user.

The change in 11.4.3 was to also expose English names only for normal IMAP clients and for web services, such as CalDAV. This was to resolve the situation where a mailbox was indeed created by Outlook with non-english names and then accessed from CalDAV or similar; the URLs in CalDAV, which are based on IMAP folder names, were messed up in this case, so this change was designed. It should not have made a difference for SWA at all.

The only thing I can think of right now is that the "old" foldernames are cached somewhere and because this is an upgrade, something went wrong; the solution for this may involve clearing the IMAP cache of affected users - this is described elsewhere on the forums and in the Wiki. It would, however, not explain the situation with a new user.

Can you positively confirm that, if you
- Create a new user using omaddu -n "Joe User/mailnode"
- login to this user once using SWA
- then look at the user account using omcontain

you see non-english folder names, ever, with no Outlook involved at all?

I would have no immediate explanation for this behavior.

Hello Florian,

as described in my third post in this thread, you can see that the mailbox has german foldernames.

Login to SWA with a user with german language setting (omaddu -n testuser/mailnode -l german) creates a mailbox with german foldernames.
Login to SWA with a user with english language setting creates a mailbox with english foldernames. This english-foldername mailbox is working as expected.
All confirmed with omcontain, no outlook and independent of the UI language setting of SWA.

All of my user mailboxes have german foldernames...

Did you test it by yourself and you do not get german foldernames by a user with german language settings?
As I said I get this behavoir now on four different test environments, including a fresh install...

my assessment was based on theoretical knowledge of the system. It seems I was wrong. The folders are indeed created with their internal German names, when the language setting of the user is changed from the English default. I wasn't aware of that and actually don't think it's a good thing, but anyway. This behavior in combination with the IMAP changes seem to lead to an interesting situation where two primary contacts folders with the same "apparent" name are created, confusing SWA.

At this point, I don't know if there is a workaround, but I'll discuss with development next week. If not, we'll see to fix this in the next available release (this would probably be the 11.4.4 patch release in April or May). Until then, all I can recommend is to leave the user's server-side language settings set to German or not use special-folder subfolders.

I think the german language setting is the reason of the problem..

Is there a chance for 11.4.3U1?

Nope, 11.4.3U1 is already done and released, however in limited release for a couple commercial customers with a very particular SWA/multi-server setup in which some issues can occur.

Next possible release for any changes is 11.4.4, as per above.
