Problems upgrading to the 11.4.1

Postby alexpacio » Fri Jul 25, 2008 10:38 am

Hello,
I upgraded my 11.4 installation to the 11.4.1 through the graphical installation.
Why the SWA's languages directory doesn't exist anymore?
Where can i put strings_xx.xml files?

Waiting for your important answer.

11.4.1 has now a localization kit (and a theming kit too).
Please have a look into the extras dir of your installation package.

We will be replacing the former ScalixForge with a new place on where to share these translations in the future. Please stay tuned. Did you still find a link to it on the website or did you use an old bookmark of yours?

For the other questions I have forwarded them to development and QA and I would assume someone will follow up on this.

You can find instructions how to create dictionary files on aspell website http://aspell.net/ and http://sourceforge.net/projects/aspell/
There is a bit of reading and you may need to install aspell as well. Most useful information can be found in language pack README file (download language archive, unpack it, you will find README there). Note this part, it should be useful

Code: Select all

The individual word lists have an extension of ".cwl" and are
compressed to save space.  To uncompress a word list use
"preunzip BASE.cwl" which will uncompress it and rename the file
to "BASE.wl".  To dump a compressed word list to standard output use
"precat BASE.cwl".  To uncompress all word lists in the current
directory use "preunzip *.cwl".  For more help on "preunzip" use
"preunzip --help".

When you have those dictionary and spellchecking files, you should read README file from "swa-localization-kit" that you have downloaded for information how to integrate those files into scalix.
You can also read /opt/scalix/web/swa/nls/README for information how it works.

What is the french string that you are using? there may be some encoding issues we may need to look into.

Thanks,
Tadas

Hi again,

I've made my dict files but I have a problem with accents in FRENCH language. My dict files are UTF-8 and they display correctly under linux vi for example but if I spell check a mail, accents are not display correctly for example the french word être displays as tre.

What's wrong ?

You can then see the How-To I made while installing aspell on my red hat 5.1 machine. Feel free to contribute to it if you find that some steps should be clarified. Note that this is my personal contribution and is not officially supported by Scalix.

A bug as been opened regarding this, you can follow the development there:

Using the how-to in my previous comment, I created a french locale and the strings with accents (é,à, etc) showed up well in SWA. You can start from there and see if the bug you encountered is still present. If you have questions about the how-to I made ask them here and I will do my best to answer them.

Note that I used the dictionary French from France on the aspell site to do my testing.

Please log a bug on https://bugzilla.scalix.com with detailed information about the setup used while encountering this bug:

Scalix server version used
Localization kit version
Browser used and version
Operating system and patch installed
Detailed steps to reproduce this bug
Actual results and expected results
etc

It will then be easier to do a proper investigation.

Regards,

Mathieu
