Using SWA to create Public Folders

Postby acb » Fri Apr 10, 2009 10:56 am

We have a new installation of Scalix running. We have mailnode hosting turned on and licensed. The default mailnode has one domain configured with several users.

None of the users are able to create public folders through SWA. The following error is returned:

"You do not have the necessary permissions to perform this operation"

Obviously, I need to adjust the permissions of the default folder area. If I try to adjust the permissions of what I think is the default area:

omaddacln -t bulletin -l 0 -g default -c create

The users still encounter the same error. I have missed something fundamental but I am not sure what it could be.

I tried using the plugin addpf.sh to add a new public folder, but it isn't accessible to the users either.

The easiest way I found is to adjust the permissions using Outlook, instead of the command line tools. By default only administrators can create Public Folders, and normally I leave that alone.

You may be stumped by the permissions on Local users, which will apply before Default does. Have a look at the permissions of each of the 3 groups (default, local and administrators).

None of the provided groups apply to mail node users, unless they also happen to be marked as admins. I created a new bulletin board with omaddbb, which creates a board that no one can access by default. I then changed its permissions with omaddacln

omaddacl -t bulletin -b <number from omlistbbs -b> -n */<node>,*,*,* -c +create +read +subfolder +editown +deleteall +contact +visible

I simply used the same permissions I saw on a test installation with working public folders among mail nodes.

Now the users logging into SWA can see the folder and create additional folders under it.

I am not sure why the initial creation of the default mail node didn't also create its own public folder space owned by the node.
