SWA - can't send or reply..

Postby mveerdon » Thu Jan 08, 2009 2:52 am

I'm using SWA and Scalix connector.

When using Scalix connector/Outlook I don't have any issues with sending/replying mails, but when using SWA I can't send any new mail or reply on incoming mails.

I get an error after sending the mail.
"Due to a failure to establish a connection, the message colud not be sent. Please try again later. A copy of the message has been placed into your Draft folder."

Can somebody help? :?

First, does it happen in both IE & Firefox? If yes, then it sounds like an SMTP issue to me, webmail probably can't contact the smtp port.

Find the line "swa.email.smtpServer=" in /var/opt/scalix/***/webmail/swa.properties

Then try telnetting to it from the host that is running tomcat/webmail...

Billb3,
it is happening with IE and firefox.

In the props file is stated "server.domain.com".

That is the same FQDN name as the server on which the props file is installed, so I can't telnet to it..!?

You should be able to telnet to it...if you can't, I would check /var/opt/scalix/***/s/sys/smtpd.cfg

I actually have mine set to "localhost:587", but I am using the submission port.

I have editted the file into:
# By default it binds to port 587
[SUBMIT]
LISTEN=localhost:587
# Reject all anonymous connections
ANONYMOUS Log_Reject ALL

Do I need to reboot the service?

Yes, and make sure you adjust your webmail smtp settings and restart that too...

You can do omshut then omrc to restart everything. For specific services, I usually use SAC...

On the SWA server, can you telnet localhost 587 and get a response?

no

[root@? sysconfig]# telnet localhost 587
Trying 127.0.0.1...
telnet: connect to address 127.0.0.1: Connection refused
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused
[root@? sysconfig]#

Well, that's your problem. Now, what about FQDN on port 587?
