SWA and FROM-Field

Postby HeinB » Thu Oct 16, 2008 8:54 am

Hi,

I´m new to Scalix and I´ve a important question: Is it possible to get in SWA by writing an email an additional FROM-Field to change the sender address?

What I like to do? I want using official group email addresses which forward incoming mail to personal email accounts of users. The user should answer as the group email address. Realizing this in an mail client like outlook or apple mail is not so difficult (I think so), but is it possible in SWA?

Thanks for your answers,
HeinB

No it's not, and neither is it in Outlook using MAPI. You can do this from a POP3/IMAP client only. You can use delegation to send on behalf of another mailbox, though.

But if I use this, the receiver can see the private mail address and not only the group mail address, right?

This depends on the associated entry in SAC (sender header). In short, if you send inside Scalix as a delegate, it will show as

From User A, on behalf of User B

If you send externally, it should just show as

From: User B

The above assume you are logged in as User A and are sending on behalf of User B.

Both users needs to be Premium users, not groups. You can also use delegation to give users access to a shared mailbox (User B in this case) or even a rule to auto-redirect/auto-forward emails.

Play around with Sender Header and see what happens to outgoing email when you change it.
