swa login problem

Postby jbeam » Tue Dec 06, 2005 10:38 pm

Whenever I try and login to the web interface I get an error that there is an illegal character in the hostname at index 25.

Anyone seen this before?

Thanks.

By Web interface do you mean the Admin Console?

I haven't seen the error you report but I would check the general.cfg file to see if you have entered the server name or domain in that file anywhere, check for spaces - blank spaces on the end of lines in that file.

Check the installation guide for the setup of the Admin Console and see where in that process you enter the server name... was this entered correctly.

Check with omshowlog to see if that reports anything further on this error for you. Try putting the ADMIN logging up hirer (it is probably at 7 so change it to 9) then try to logon again and do an "omshowlog -p 2 -l 9" see what that shows. The -p2 is for the last 2 mins so issue this command straight after trying to logon and getting the error.

Just some suggestions to start with

Oh, I saw that problem a lot when I was first installing Scalix on our machines. It was an error, similar to what has been mentioned above. I think it might have been in the partner.xml file, which is located in /etc/opt/scalix/webmail/. If you look in there, you will find some files that look like %LOCALHOST% and %LOCALDOMAIN%. For some reason, when I installed the server, it didn't change those to my localhost and localdomain values. If you change those, hopefully you will be able to log in.

Hope this helps.

This problem was tracked down on the SAC forum. For completeness I am posting that the problem was an underscore in the host name.

Don
