SWA + Firefox 1.07 + FreeBSD?

Postby lleung » Thu Nov 03, 2005 7:56 pm

I'm aware that FreeBSD is not support as a server install.
However, my problem is not server side but client. I notice that SWA client will reject a connect from Firefox 1.07 on FreeBSD. It will displaya browser not supported error. Is there a way around this? It *should* technically work ..

i believe it will work, our browser check still rejects it once as we haven't tested it officially.

your friend is a little firefox plugin called UserAgent Switcher or so. With this, you can influence how the browser announces itself to the web server. just let the browser disguise as a linux-browser (find the exact string by starting ff on linux and looking in the about box, it will look similar to "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; de-DE; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050321 Firefox/1.0.2" (this is on a mac, obviously).

hope this helps.

What version of SWA are you running with ? I use SWA with Firefox 1.07 under Linux and have been for quite some time. I don't get any browser unsupported error displayed.

Hi Dave...

wouldn't that be because you're running under LINUX (which is supported!)? Lynda is running under FreeBSD which has a different browser ID string.....

Cheers,
Florian.
