Address Book

Postby Jay » Wed Aug 03, 2005 9:58 am

Just implemented Scalix and want to be able to select multiple people from my address book when forwarding or replying to e-mail. Address book in these situations does not seem possible. What am I missing?

I can;t believe I have to type the begining or whole e-mail address for someone in order to forward or reply to new contacts.

I want to be able just to have the address book up and be able to select multiple contacts. How do I do this?

I agree, this is really annoying and I did not pick it up until after I had migrated all our users from exchange to scalix. This is the one feature they are all complaining about with remote access.
Is the proposed address book edition going to be included in the release slated for later this year ?

address book when composing...

Today, when composing a new message, the user has two ways of zeroing in on the desired addresses in the To:/Cc:/Bcc: fields:

1) The "check names" icon will do a lookup into the Scalix system directory or the user's contacts and if there is a unique match between the partial names that have been typed into the To:/Cc:/Bcc: fields and entries in these address books, SWA will complete the addresses (e.g. you can type in "John Sm" into the To: field and check names will complete the address to "John Smith" if it exists in the system address book or contacts). If the partial names typed in match multiple results in the directory, then the user is presented with a list of names to choose from.

2) SWA also offers its own address caching capability. If you've previously addressed to a user, then that user's name/email address is automatically remembered by SWA. Next time, you try to address to this user, the name gets displayed automatically and it gets filled in by pressing ';', CR, or tabbing.

In our next major release later this year, Scalix Web Access will have a third option for addressing and that will be the ability to lookup the system directory or contacts by brining up an address book that gets displayed when a user click on the To:/Cc:/Bcc: buttons. Users can then select one or multiple users from the address book and they get added to the To:/Cc:/Bcc: fields of the messaging being composed.
