Over-The-Air (dirty) workaround for WinMobile and iphone?

Postby Uluquai » Mon Jan 25, 2010 12:44 pm

Hi,

currently we are having troubles with active sync in its current version.
I configured the iPhone users to use CalDAV for their calendar which seems to work great at least today when it was setup!
Really nice that Scalix offers this interface!

But I don't know of any temporary solution for those windows mobile users.
The problem with them is they are irritated too much by those messages https://bugzilla.scalix.com/show_bug.cgi?id=19560
I have a client who's calendar entries always contain this "warning" message + some other strange "header text" in the "body" of any entry.

Did anyone of you try to sync a scalix outlook profile to a (hosted) exchange server or to get them to the phones any other way?

I first thought of syncML, but sad enough m$ doesn't support it and there seems to be no client for their OS available.

Regarding iPhones: I saw this thread http://www.scalix.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=14713&hilit=caldav
..indicating that the CalDAV solution MIGHT stop working anytime too..
So anyone with a solution for the iPhone would also be GREATLY appreciated!

Googlesync is also not an because you can only sync every 10-15 Minutes.. (at least using their outlook connector)

If anyone has any idea, It'd be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!

A (far too) dirty workaround would be for example syncing outlook via a syncML plugin to any syncml service like memotoo or scheduleworld.com and using the (IMHO) great synthesis syncml client on the iphone.
This approach works very well for tasks and contacts, but not for calendaring as the funambol connector for Outlook produces horrible duplicates at least this happened to me once or twice..

But anyway, the iPhone can't sync tasks anyway so the syncml approach for one or two users who badly want to have access to their tasks on their iPhones works quite well..

Of course this is VERY failure prone.. I have this running on a virtual machine syncing tasks every 15 Minutes..
